Safety and rules
The Galleria is private property with its own security staff and a K-9 program, and offers safety escorts to your car through security, 205-985-3022. Its code of conduct bans, among other things, disruptive or threatening language, running and horseplay, blocking walkways, excessive loitering, unauthorized personal transportation devices, firearms and face coverings that hide your identity (medical and religious coverings excepted). Guests who refuse to leave when asked can be arrested for criminal trespass.
The mall’s owner, GGP, uses license plate readers in the parking areas. Its LPR FAQ says the cameras and signs are visible, the data is kept for 30 days unless the law requires otherwise, and it is used only for crime prevention, investigations and parking.
There is no smoking or vaping inside; designated smoking areas are at the north and south deck entrances on the first and third levels and 50 feet from the main entrance.
Each holiday season the Hoover Police Department adds officers inside the Galleria and other retail centers, working from its mobile command center, and adjusts traffic by hand when roads back up, according to the department.
