Mother’s Day 2027 is Sunday, May 9. The weekend before it is a full one in Hoover: the Library Theatre closes its season, and in 2026 the Ross Bridge Farmers Market opened its season on that Friday.

Aldridge Gardens

Aldridge Gardens, 3530 Lorna Road, opens its gates daily from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. unless weather or a special event closes it. The gardens hold an annual Spring Plant Sale with many varieties and sizes of plants; members get 10% off. The 2027 sale date was not posted as of Oct. 17. Call 205-739-6558.

Ross Bridge Farmers Market

The Ross Bridge Farmers Market at 2101 Grand Ave. opened its 2026 season on Friday, May 8, 2026, the Friday before Mother’s Day, with Strawberry Day: live music, free face painting for kids and a strawberry shortcake bar. Flower Day followed on May 22. The market runs on selected Fridays from 4 to 8 p.m.; its 2027 dates were not out as of Oct. 17. See our farmers markets guide.

Library Theatre: Twitty & Lynn

The Hoover Public Library’s 2026-27 theater season ends with Twitty & Lynn at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 6, and Friday, May 7, 2027, in the Library Theatre, 200 Municipal Drive (event page). Tickets are sold through the library; 205-444-7800.

Last year at the library

The weekend before Mother’s Day 2026, the library held a Calligraphy Class (May 2) and a House Plant Swap (May 3), and the Library Theatre hosted Ken Block and Drew Copeland of Sister Hazel (May 7-8), according to its event calendar. The library’s May 2027 programs were not yet posted.
