Father’s Day 2027 is Sunday, June 20. Hoover’s best Father’s Day plans are outdoors: an 18-hole round at Ross Bridge, the mountain bike trails at Stadium Trace or a hike at Moss Rock Preserve. Brunch and dinner specials are added here as restaurants announce them.

Golf at Ross Bridge

Ross Bridge is the Hoover course on Alabama’s Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, 18 holes carved into the rolling terrain of Shannon Valley around the 259-room Renaissance Birmingham Ross Bridge resort. Ten holes play along two lakes connected by a waterfall that drops 80 feet, and the course has multiple tees for golfers of all levels, according to the Trail. Tee times can be booked online or by phone at 205-916-7677.

Outdoors

  • Black Creek Mountain Bike Park, 5571 Stadium Trace Parkway: 73 acres and 5 miles of trails for all levels, part of the city’s 400-acre Stadium Trace area off Exit 10 of I-459.
  • Moss Rock Preserve: nearly 12 miles of hiking trails, waterfalls and a Boulder Field with technical climbing routes for all skill levels. The city publishes a Boulder Field map.
  • Hoover Archery Park, 3308 Afton Circle: a covered, accessible shooting area with permanent targets.
  • Oak Mountain State Park in Pelham: more than 100 miles of trails, an 18-hole golf course and driving range, cable wakeboarding and marina rentals. Open 7 a.m. until sunset; 205-620-2520.

Indoors

Hoover Heights Climbing Center at the Finley Center, 5508 Stadium Trace Parkway, and the Hoover Met Complex’s tennis center and pickleball courts are next door to the bike park. The Hoover Public Library’s summer calendar was not posted for 2027 as of Oct. 17; in June 2026 it held a Live on the Plaza evening performance at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, according to its event calendar.

  • Celebrate Juneteenth at the Hoover Public Library, 5:30 p.m. Thursday, June 18, 2026 (event page), followed by A Taste of Soul Food at 7 p.m.
  • Hydrangeas Under the Stars, the Aldridge Gardens gala and fundraiser, was June 13, 2026.
